Book Cover by Bold Type Books (forthcoming, October 5, 2021)
[ IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A bold and graphic rectangular book cover spells in large black text: “THE TROUBLE WITH WHITE WOMEN,” in all caps. All the text on the book cover is in all caps and appears in the same black font of varying size. The font is stencil-like and appears worn. The bold title spans the top three quarters of the book’s cover. Beneath the title is a much smaller subtitle: “A COUNTERHISTORY OF FEMINISM.” A thick black line divides the subtitle from the author’s name beneath it, which reads: KYLA SCHULLER. In the top right corner of the cover, small text reads: “FOREWORD BY BRITTNEY COOPER.” Behind the text is a two-tone, yellow and neon pink dithered illustration of Harriet Beecher Stowe. The image captures her head and shoulders. Half of her face appears on the right side of the book, and the other half of it is out of frame. ︎︎ heart symbol ]
Kyla Schuller is Associate Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Her forthcoming book The Trouble with White Women: A Counterhistory of Feminism tells the compelling stories of self-serving white feminist politics and the women who pushed back. She is the author of the academic book The Biopolitics of Feeling and numerous scholarly and public essays. Her research has been funded by fellowships from the Stanford Humanities Center and other national competitions.
